Dr Sanjiv Kumar is a public health physician with 44 years of experience across 33 countries. He did his MBBS and MD from AIIMS, New Delhi, DNB (MCH) from National Board, India and MBA (Strategic management) from UK.
He has been in academics and programme Implementation. He worked in UNICEF for 22 years in India in Iraq, Kenya, Uganda and Somalia and as Regional Advisor for 22 countries in Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic States. He came back to academics as Dean (Research, Training and Publications) where he taught post graduate students, he developed and facilitated courses for corporate sector, government officials and NGOs in leadership and strategic management for India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and others. He worked as Director, International Institute of Health Management and Research in New Delhi (2017-2019) and turned it around from a loss making intuition. As Executive Director at National Health Systems Resource Centre (2014-17) he provided technical support to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all states and UTs in India. He led development of many policy and strategic documents to improve health in India including National Health Policy 2017, Guidelines for for programme implementation and treatment of conditions of public health significance.
Dr Sanjiv Kumar has published > 125 papers in scientific and popular magazines and chapters in books.
He has been conferred four international and national fellowships and eight Awards for his professional contribution.
His current focus is on leadership capacity building in health, academics and health research. He has developed three domain model for leadership capacity building and used it for training of more than 300 mid and senior level professionals in leadership.
He is currently Professor, Leadership, Global Health & Strategic Management at INCLEN Institute of Global Health, Chair of Indian Alliance of Patients Group, Indian Academy of Public Health and Institutional Ethics Committee of Gautam Budh University, member Governing Board of National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Advisor, Integrated Health And Wellbeing Council and Indian Cancer Society.
